{= Tyrant badjoe's Newbie Guide =}
<=========================>

Welcome to Broken Reality Online (BRO)

BRO is a Massive Multiplayer Online Browser based game, where the realms of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Gothic Horror are blended, thus creating a Unreal world where mighty armies clash, where an elf can die under the fangs of a vampire, politicians conspire to gain power, and where scientists design new and unparalleled weapons to help their factions win the war.

Before you start reading this guide it would be best to learn how to search for tutorial in this thread rather then scrolling down post-after-post to look for the answer you need. When you look at the Legend post press "?" key or "Ctrl+F" keys to open a search feature, then copy and past any guide your searching for in the legend post to get there immediately.

Note that this guide has few changes in "Classic Server" but in "War of God Server" it is the same.

1.4 About Stats

There are 2 servers and "Classical Server" has 7 stats while "War of God Server" has 4 stats :

War of God Server :

: Health Point = The higher HP, the longer fights you can survive
: Body Stat = Mythic stat and it increases both Body's Attack and Defense
: Mind Stat = Promethean stat and it increases both Mind's Attack and Defense
: Spirit Stat = Unliving stat and it increases both Spirit's Attack and Defense

Classical Server :

: Health Point = The higher HP, the longer fights you can survive
: Body Attack Stat = Mythic stat that increases your Body's Attack
: Promethean stat that increases your Mind's Attack
: Unliving stat that increases your Spirit's Attack
: Body Defense Stat = Mythic stat that increases your Body's Defense
: Mind Defense Stat = Promethean stat that increases your Mind's Defense
: Spirit Defense Stat = Unliving stat that increases your Spirit's Defense

Depending on you stats you can either do "Bonus Damage", "Absorption Damage" or "None" which means your raw damage is your attack.

Bonus Damage :
Bonus Attack increases your damage on target depending how big your stats is against enemy stats. For example :

Your stats > Target's = Your attacks will have xx% Bonus.

But attacking on players gives you bonus 25% damage depending on what race you are and what weapon you use (Example : Mythic = Body Weapon / Promethean = Mind Weapon / Unliving = Spirit Weapon).

Absorption Damage :
Absorption Attack decreases your damage on target depending how low your stats is against enemy stats. For example :

Your stats < Target's = Your attacks will have xx% Absorption.

But don't worry you still have a little defense, when a target hit you with a weapon of your race color (Example : Mythic = Body. Mythic enemy hits Mythic Player) you will get 10% Defense Bonus.

None/RAW Damage :
Well RAW damage is the damage you do when you attack a player. But if your stats is equal to your Target's stats you'll neither get a bonus nor absorption damage.

1.8 Psytech Point (PP) & Energy

To learn how to get PP, there are 3 ways to earn them :

1- Referral Link
By recruiting a friend using a referral link (Can be found in Psytech Shop in the "Free PP Vote" page), you will earn PP when your friends or person registers and plays the game.

2- Free PP
You get 7 voting site and when you vote you earn 7 free PP every 24 hours.

3- PP Package
Last way to get PP is by buying PP using real money.

Of course you will earn more then just PP. If you buy any PP Package you will earn Psynode Boost card according to the PP package you bought and several features in Psytech Shop will be open for you to use.

To learn how to get Energy (In-game money), there are 3 ways to earn Energy :

1- Mining Crystals
Crystals are essential products to make better quality cards and are the best and basic way to earn Energy when you sell it in Crystal Trader.

2- Selling Cards
When you make card or someone gives you a card as a gift, you can sell the cards those cards in the "Card Shop" to earn.

3- Selling Blueprint
Two thing you'll need to know to make profit out of bp :
a) bp that starts with Celadon/Azure/Crimson are not worth selling nor crafting it then sell them as the bp cost only 1E .
b) When killing MOBs and looted bp that are found in shops you can earn profit by selling the bp directly or craft it using crystals you mined then selling it for bigger profit.

How to avoid losing Crystals :

The best way to avoid losing crystals when getting killed is not to stay in the same land that you have mined the crystals until after a new batch of new crystals from the same land spawns then you'll keep the crystals you mined.

How to avoid losing Energies :

There are several ways to avoid losing Energies :
1- Do not hold more then 500 energies on hand
2- Never go offline when having large amount of energies on hand
3- Use energies to buy blueprints, then you will get 95% of your crystals back when you sell the blueprint
4- If your under attack and can't run use "Homeland Card" or "Master Homeland Card" to quickly retreat back to your homeland and go to nearest shop to get rid of the energies on hand.

<===========>
{= 4. Faction =}
<===========>

4.1 What is a faction ?
Faction is a guild-type group where many players works and fights together to dominate the game.

4.2 What benefits do I get in faction ?
You can get lots of benefits from just joining a faction :

1- Free cards
2- Friendly chat without enemy faction members interrupting
3- Can use buildings
4- Will answer any question you have
5- Free Tips & Tricks
6- It will also make you enemy of opposing Alliance and will be joining in lots of fights

4.3 Should I join a faction now ?
Do not be hasty and join a faction immediately. There are lots of players who wants to you to join their faction and that will give no chance for other faction to invite you to their faction. First try to learn more about all faction and its members and also learning how to play the game.

4.4 When do I join a faction ?
After your NNP (New Newbie Protection) expires (After 20 days) then decide which alliance or faction you want to join. By then you should have met all players and who you want to side with.

4.5 No one answers my comment in public chat Sad
If players in chat doesn't respond to you please have patience till someone answer you. Public chat is also used to chat with other players.

<===============>
{= 5. Overkill Rules =}
<===============>

Sometimes, when you kill a MOB you'll receive a message like this:

OVERKILL!!! You beat <<MOB Name>> to a bloody pulp, you cannot collect a trophy.

This is because of the Overkill Rule, the characteristics of the Overkill are the following:

1- Overkill is determined based on the Killing Blow (not the total damage dealt to the MOB)
2- If the damage dealt on the Killing Blow surpass the 125% of the Total Health of the MOB, it'll be considered an Overkill
3- When a MOB is "overkilled" you will only loot Energy from it, no chance of obtaining a Hunting Trophy.

So, let's evaluate the following examples:

Case 1 - Normal Kill:

You hit Unknown Enemy for 169 spirit damage.
You killed Unknown Enemy with 436 spirit damage..

Case 2 - Overkill:

You killed Unknown Enemy with 640 spirit damage..
OVERKILL!!! You beat Unknown Enemy to a bloody pulp, you cannot collect a trophy.

The Unknown Enemy in this case is a MOB of 480 total HP, in the Case 1, the killing blow was of 436 dmg, representing 90% of the total HP of the MOB, so it is a normal kill.

In Case 2, the killing blow dealt 640 damage, so it exceeded the 125% of the total health of the MOB.

The Overkill rule only applies if the Killing blow is too powerful for the MOB.

<===============>
{= 6. Critical Rules =}
<===============>

Every attack you perform against a MOB or an enemy player has a chance to be a Critical Strike. This chance is expressed as a % chance, and it's displayed in the Combat detail of your attacks in the Target Window as the  Critical Strike % Chance.

The Critical Strike % Chance formula is the following:

Weapon’s base Critical Bonus :

Not all weapons have a Critical Bonus, as a rule of thumb Range weapons rarely have any Critical Bonus, while Melee weapons are most commonly found with this type of bonus. Some quest weapons also have high Critical Bonus. The Critical Base Bonus of your weapon is added to your Skill Critical Strike % Chance.
Weapons Base Critical Bonus is fixed and applies the same every time you make an attack with that weapon.

Skill Critical Bonus :

When the number of levels of your Combat skill (Melee, Range, and Tactics) surpass the minimum required to use the weapon card, it will improve your Critical Strike % Chance. The Skill Bonus has a fixed and a random component, so every time you perform an attack you'll see that your Critical Strike % Chance varies between attacks, but having a higher skill will allow you to have better critical bonuses more often.

The maximum Skill Critical Bonus you can receive is 30%. The following table shows the Average Skill Critical Bonus, based on the Additional Combat skill levels.

<===============>
{= 7. Crafting Rules =}
<===============>

To learn how to craft cards please try this Crafting Flash Tutorial to learn the basics of crafting cards from blueprints.

~{Crafting Ranking}~
===================
00-19% = Grey background produce = Broken, Fake, Flawed, Poor
===================
20-29% = White background produce = Basic, Regular
===================
30-39% = Green background produce = Average, Nice
===================
40-59% = Blue background produce = Good, Fine, Excellent, 'none or empty'
===================
60-69% = Yellow background produce = Prestige, Flawless
===================
70-79% = Orange background produce = Magnificent, Perfect
===================
80-89% = Red background produce = Royal, Extraordinary
===================
90%++  = Purple background produce = Epic, Godly
===================

7.1 Crafting Formula

Let us say we have a blueprint requiring 3 different crystal patch, here is how you calculate the average % of the card crafting rank :

( [% from crystal patch 1 * 1 amount] + [% from crystal patch 2 * 2 amount] + [% crystal patch  * 3 amount] ) / (1 amount  + 2 amount + 3 amount) = Average %

Now let us take this formula and add a random number amount of crystals and see what ranking we get :

( [35% Green * 25 amount] + [60% Orange * 25 amount] + [58% Red  * 35 amount] ) / (25  + 25 + 35) = Average %

( [875] + [1500] + [2030] ) / (25  + 25 + 35) = Average %

( 4405 ) / (85) = 51.82%

Every time you attempt to craft a card the chat channel will display your success/fail attempt along with your crafting roll and how much crafting bonus you get (If you succeed in your attempt)

7.2 The Quality of all the crystals employed individually

Each group of crystals has its specific role in the crafting process. Some crystals affect the duration of the card, others might affect the number of uses, or a weapon's damage or critical bonus. Using hi-quality crystals will result in a card with above average stats.

7.3 Overall Crystal Quality

During the crafting process, when your crystals and blueprint are synthesized into a card, the average quality of the crystals employed in the crafting is used to calculate the Card's quality and market price.

7.4 The Superior Crafting Skill Bonus

All Crafters are entitled to a Superior Crafting Skill bonus to the quality of the crystals, based on the amount of levels your Crafting Skill surpass the required Crafting skill required by the blueprint*. This bonus has a fixed and a random component, determined for every time you click the 'Assembly' button to craft a card. This bonus apply to all the Crystals used in the crafting process. A higher Crafting skill will result in bigger quality bonus.

The following table shows the AVERAGE Superior Crafting Bonus that your character will receive, based on the Crafting skill levels above the blueprint requirements.

7.5 Critical Success Quality Bonus

Every time you attempt to craft a card, a Crafting Roll is required:

Example:
You successfully crafted a Master Medium Crystal Extractor.
(You rolled: 63, You needed: 5)

If you score a Natural 100 in this roll, you'll obtain a Critical Crafting Success! Critical Crafting Success receive a 50% Quality bonus plus the benefit of keeping the blueprint  (It is not consumed during the Assembly). All crafters have a 1% chance that their crafting will result in a Critical Crafting Success if they are asked for a 5 (You needed: 5).

* Please note that you can try to craft a blueprint that surpass your Crafting skill, but your chance of success will be lower and there is a chance that the blueprint will explode, causing you 1 point of damage per every Crafting level required by the Blueprint.

7.6 Players Crystals VS Shop Crystals

Here is the explanation, fully tested with costing formula:

The cost of the crystals is ([quality / 5] 1)
Lets craft a mask = 1000 energy blueprint and 30 crystals
Lets use a 1% quality crystals
The cost to craft a mask = 1000 ({[1 / 5] 1}) = 1030
That's the cost of the mask, gene gypsy pays for it 1045.
1030E - 1045E = 15E

You get a 15E profit for the craft time and dedication.

Crystal-NPC sells the crystals at 1.5 of the cost ({[quality / 5] 1} * 1.5):
If you bought the crystals with Crystal-NPC you will spent 45 energy crystalwise.
The cost to craft a mask with Alan Wonder wares = 1000 ({[1 / 5] 1} * 1.5) = 1045
1045E - 1045E = Zero

So you do not get a profit if you buy from the Crystal Trader and sell it to Card Shop. You can ONLY get a profit when you craft using your own mined crystals.

The crafting skill bonus was intended to get higher quality items as a reward for dedicated crafters BUT it was never intended to allow a player to generate 'infinite' (lot of) energy...

<=================>
{= 8. Repairing Cards =}
<=================>

Repairing cards is an important thing to keep in mind. As you use your cards your uses drop down. Once in a while visit the "Card Shop" (See info in 3. Shops Info. & Location) and see how much % your card uses has.

If the card uses drop to above 65%, it is advisable to repair your cards at that point. The lower the % of your card uses has the higher the risk of damaging your card and more likely to increase the risk of losing more and more uses.

There are some cards in the game that are extremely hard to get and damaging them while repairing is the worst thing that can happen to you so try to repair your cards between 70-80% if you can to avoid getting your cards damaged.
